\nHouse Limerick on Howley’s Quay currently employs 59 people<\/p>\n
Almost 60 jobs are set to be lost in Limerick following the closure of one of the city’s best-known hospitality venues.<\/p>\n
House Limerick on Howley\u2019s Quay is to cease trading after a sale contract was signed for the business and property.<\/p>\n
The venue on the city\u2019s riverfront is closing following an extended period during which efforts were made to find a sustainable future for the business.<\/p>\n
The 59 employees, who work in both full and part-time roles, were informed of the closure this morning.<\/p>\n
House Limerick opened in 2016 following a major refurbishment of the former Clohessy’s Bar and The Sin Bin nightclub.<\/p>\n
The venue became part of the House brand, which had already been established on Leeson Street in Dublin, and was positioned as a high-end bar, restaurant, event and late-night venue.<\/p>\n
Joint receivers Interpath were appointed on 2 December 2025 and have overseen the business while options for its future were assessed and a transaction process undertaken.<\/p>\n

Interpath said the business had remained loss-making and could not continue operating in its current form.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson said: “Following an extended period during which all available options were explored to secure the future of House Limerick, the business will cease trading.”<\/p>\n
It said its immediate priority is now to engage with employees through the statutory consultation process and ensure appropriate supports are made available.<\/p>\n
“We recognise that this is difficult and disappointing news for employees and for all those connected with the business.”<\/p>\n
A sale contract has been signed with Tribeca Holdings, which already owns the remainder of the building.<\/p>\n
The London-based company is owned by Limerick businessman Aidan Brooks and is understood to be considering redevelopment options for the property once the transaction is completed.<\/p>\n
Any future plans for the site will be a matter for the purchaser and will be subject to the relevant planning and regulatory processes.<\/p>\n
The Howley’s Quay premises has a long association with Limerick’s social and night-time economy.<\/p>\n
Before becoming House Limerick, it was home to Peter Clohessy’s Bar and The Sin Bin nightclub, both of which were well-known destinations in the city.<\/p>\n
