He stepped back from that role earlier this year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Before joining IIP, he was head of group communications and Government relations at Bank of Ireland, leading the bank\u2019s external engagement and stakeholder strategy. He also previously served as chief executive of Banking &amp; Payments Federation Ireland, the industry lobby group, and sat on the executive committee of the European Banking Federation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The former Fianna F\u00e1il general secretary and senator is also a non-executive director of estate agent group Sherry FitzGerald, and a strategic adviser to Kerry-based financial group Fexco.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Cairn\u2019s chairman Bernard Byrne said the appointment of Farrell brought significant Irish real estate, banking and public policy expertise to Cairn. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-it-article-body__interstitial-link\">[\u00a0<a aria-label=\"Open related story\" class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/business\/2026\/04\/29\/sherry-fitzgerald-appoints-former-iip-chief-pat-farrell-to-its-board\/\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sherry FitzGerald appoints former IIP chief Pat Farrell to its boardOpens in new window<\/a>\u00a0]<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cPat\u2019s extensive experience navigating complex, regulated environments and engaging with Government and commercial stakeholders will be a significant addition as Cairn continues to scale, strengthening its position as the leading Irish home builder,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Listed on the Dublin stock market and led by co-founder Michael Stanley, Cairn is the biggest housebuilder in the country. Last month the company posted revenue of \u20ac450 million from the sale of 1,130 units, a near 60 per cent increase year-on-year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cOur continued investment has enabled multiple new project commencements across the greater Dublin Area, Cork and Galway, and we are building high-quality, energy efficient new homes across 26 developments,\u201d Stanley said at the time. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cOur closed and forward order book stands at 4,800 homes with a value of \u20ac1.8 billion, giving us confidence in our growth trajectory.
