Jordan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">EXCLUSIVE: Following his first Tony win earlier this summer, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/alden-ehrenreich\/\" id=\"auto-tag_alden-ehrenreich\" data-tag=\"alden-ehrenreich\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alden Ehrenreich<\/a> has zeroed in on his next big movie role and it\u2019s a high-profile project. Sources say he is set to join <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/michael-b-jordan\/\" id=\"auto-tag_michael-b-jordan\" data-tag=\"michael-b-jordan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michael B. Jordan<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/austin-butler\/\" id=\"auto-tag_austin-butler\" data-tag=\"austin-butler\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Austin Butler<\/a> in Universal Pictures\u2019 Miami Vice \u201985, an original take on the classic 1980s drama series. <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/joseph-kosinski\/\" id=\"auto-tag_joseph-kosinski\" data-tag=\"joseph-kosinski\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joseph Kosinski<\/a> is directing the pic from a script by Dan Gilroy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The film explores the glamour and corruption of mid-\u201980s Miami in an all-new version of\u00a0Miami Vice, inspired by the pilot episode of the landmark Universal Television series that influenced culture and set the style of everything from fashion to filmmaking.\u00a0Bringing current technological\u00a0expertise\u00a0to the sights and sounds of the series,\u00a0Miami Vice \u201885\u00a0 will be filmed for Imax and is set for release on May 19, 2028.\u00a0Production will begin this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The film is produced by Dylan Clark\/Dylan Clark Productions and Kosinski. Gilroy\u2019s script is based on characters created by Anthony Yerkovich from the series he executive produced with Michael Mann. Eric Warren Singer wrote an earlier draft of the screenplay.\u00a0EVP Production Development Sara Scott and Creative Executive of Production Development Christina Hoffrogge will oversee the project for the studio.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for Ehrenreich, the role comes following his win at the Tonys in June for his role in Becky Shaw. His standout performance earned acclaim from critics. Sources said Ehrenreich had upwards of eight offers, but ultimately couldn\u2019t resist the opportunity to star opposite Jordan and Butler in the take from Kosinski.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next up, Ehrenreich will be seen <a data-id=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/06\/olivia-cooke-alden-ehrenreich-helen-mirren-a-talent-for-murder-1236951700\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/06\/olivia-cooke-alden-ehrenreich-helen-mirren-a-talent-for-murder-1236951700\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">opposite Helen Mirren in Anton Corbijn\u2019s A Talent for Murder<\/a>, which will have its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto Film Festival. He will also star <a data-id=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/05\/daisy-ridley-alden-ehrenreich-rom-com-last-resort-us-deal-1236881229\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/05\/daisy-ridley-alden-ehrenreich-rom-com-last-resort-us-deal-1236881229\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">opposite Daisy Ridley in The Last Resort<\/a>, which will be released theatrically in 2027.
