Some of RT\u00c9 Radio 1’s most-listened-to programmes have seen decreases in the latest JNLR (Joint National Listenership Research) figures, while 2FM’s Breakfast with Carl, Roz & Aisling has become the number one show in the country among 18-34-year-olds.<\/p>\n

RT\u00c9 is the home of the top 10 radio programmes in the country and holds 16 of the top 20 programmes. It has a 28.2% market share with almost two million people listening every week.<\/p>\n

RT\u00c9 Radio 1 is Ireland’s number one radio station with more than 1.3 million listeners every week and three shows with over 400,000 listeners – Morning Ireland, Today with David McCullagh, and The Brendan O’Connor Show.<\/p>\n

Patricia Monahan, Director of Audio at RT\u00c9, said the results “clearly indicate that our new schedules across RT\u00c9 Radio 1 and 2FM are beginning to resonate with audiences”.<\/p>\n

“lyric fm is maintaining the brilliant momentum it has built in recent years, and Raidi\u00f3 na Gaeltachta continues to deliver for Irish-language speakers across the country,” she added.<\/p>\n

Morning Ireland remains Ireland’s most-listened-to radio programme with 457,000 listeners, up 5,000 on the previous JNLR book. <\/p>\n

Book-on-book comparisons measure average programme listenership across the four previous quarters.<\/p>\n

Today with David McCullagh is at 422,000 listeners, down 1,000 on the previous book.<\/p>\n

The Oliver Callan Show is at 285,000 listeners, down 11,000.<\/p>\n

News at One has 273,000 listeners, down 2,000 on the previous book.<\/p>\n

Liveline has 254,000 listeners, down 14,000 on the previous book.<\/p>\n

The Louise Duffy Show has 133,000 listeners in the 3pm slot, down 12,000, while there is no change for Drivetime with Katie Hannon and Colm \u00d3 Mong\u00e1in with 211,000 listeners from 4pm to 6pm.<\/p>\n

At weekends on RT\u00c9 Radio 1, The Brendan O’Connor Show on Saturday has 400,000 listeners and 399,000 on Sunday, down 14,000 and 10,000, respectively.<\/p>\n

The Business on Saturday mornings has 342,000 listeners, down 30,000, while Playback on Saturday has 306,000, down 18,000.<\/p>\n

Sunday Miscellany has 279,000 listeners, down 29,000, and Sunday with Miriam has 317,000 listeners, down 17,000.<\/p>\n

This Week has 210,000 listeners on Sunday, up 12,000 book-on-book.<\/p>\n

Tara Campbell, Head of RT\u00c9 Radio 1, said: “Once again, Radio 1 continues to lead the market with more than one million weekly listeners and all of the top 10 most-listened-to programmes in the country on the station.<\/p>\n

“We’ve seen solid performances in this book for both Morning Ireland and Today with David McCullagh with 457,000 and 422,000 listeners, respectively, massively outperforming all of their competitors at this time of day.”<\/p>\n

RT\u00c9 2FM<\/p>\n

RT\u00c9 2FM launched its new schedule in May, and the station now has a 9.4% share among 15-34-year-olds.<\/p>\n

On 2FM, the newly extended 2FM Breakfast with Carl, Roz, & Aisling has 175,000 listeners tuning in on weekday mornings, making the Carl Mullan, Roz Purcell, and Aisling Bonner-hosted show the number one programme for 15-34-year-olds nationally.<\/p>\n

2FM Mornings with Doireann Garrihy (previously hosted by Laura Fox before the new schedule) has 86,000 listeners for the 10am-12pm show. Laura Fox now presents 2FM Drive with Katja Mia from 3pm-6pm as part of the new schedule.<\/p>\n

2FM Drive with Laura Fox and Katja Mia (previously hosted by Demi Isaac and Mikey O’Reilly) has 127,000 listeners, up 3,000 book-on-book.<\/p>\n

The New Music Show with Beta Da Silva has 43,000 listeners, up 4,000 book-on-book, while Weekends on 2FM with Bl\u00e1thnaid Treacy\/Katja Mia has 113,000 listeners on Saturdays and 126,000 listeners on Sundays, up 8,000 book-on-book.<\/p>\n

2FM Weekend Afternoon with Helen Galgey and Benny Bracken (previously hosted by Demi Isaac and Mikey O’Reilly and Aindri\u00fa de Paor and Taran O’Sullivan) has 125,000 listeners on Saturdays and 83,000 listeners on Sundays, up 6,000 book-on-book.<\/p>\n

Dan Healy, Head of RT\u00c9 2FM, said: “So early into a new schedule, it’s very encouraging to see strong growth in our weekly and daily reach – up 30,000 and 13,000 listeners, respectively. Now 325,000 adults listen to 2FM daily throughout the week. We’ve also seen growth in our 15-34 market share, which now stands at 9.4%.<\/p>\n

“2FM Breakfast with Carl, Roz & Aisling is performing really well in its extended slot and is now the number one programme in Ireland for 15-34-year-olds.<\/p>\n

“Playing new and Irish music is a key pillar for 2FM, and it’s brilliant to see Beta Da Silva going from strength to strength with 43,000 listeners (up 4,000 book-on-book). Beta’s show is the only new music show that exists in primetime.<\/p>\n

“All of our weekend shows are performing well both on Saturday and Sunday. In fact, eight of the top 20 programmes for 15-34-year-olds are from 2FM’s weekend schedule.”<\/p>\n

RT\u00c9 lyric fm reaches 358,000 listeners every week and its share stands at 3.5%.<\/p>\n

Marty in the Morning has 85,000 listeners, up 10,000 year-on-year on weekday mornings, while Lorcan Murray’s Classic Drive has 68,000 listeners, up 4,000 year-on-year.<\/p>\n

Liz Nolan’s The Full Score\/Aed\u00edn in the Afternoon (Friday) has 65,000 listeners, up 18,000 year-on-year, and Niall Carroll’s Classical Daytime on weekdays has 54,000 listeners, up 12,000 year-on-year.<\/p>\n

At weekends on lyric fm, Aed\u00edn Gormley’s Movies and Musicals every Saturday afternoon has 63,000 listeners while Sunday Afternoon with Simon Delaney has 66,000 listeners, up 5,000 year-on-year.<\/p>\n

Weekend Classics with Claudia Boyle has 56,000 listeners on Saturdays, and on Sundays the programme has 59,000 listeners, up 13,000 year-on-year.<\/p>\n

Sin\u00e9ad Wylde, Head of RT\u00c9 lyric fm, said: “RT\u00c9 lyric fm continues to broaden its audience base and this is reflected in the 29,000 new listeners who have come to the station over the last year with the station now at 358,000 weekly listeners.”<\/p>\n

“Market share continues to stay strong and RT\u00c9 lyric fm’s audience age profile is lowering with increases in younger demographics coming to the station where life sounds lighter,” she added.<\/p>\n

Newstalk and Today FM<\/p>\n

On Newstalk, The Claire Byrne Show has 210,000 listeners, up 4,000, and Newstalk Breakfast has 168,000, up 10,000.<\/p>\n

On Today FM, The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show has 240,000, up 8,000 and The Dave Moore Show has 211,000, up 5,000.<\/p>\n
