{"id":592272,"date":"2026-08-13T18:38:17","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T18:38:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/592272\/"},"modified":"2026-08-13T18:38:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T18:38:17","slug":"homes-alight-as-fires-rage-across-the-west-midlands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/592272\/","title":{"rendered":"Homes alight as fires rage across the West Midlands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recap: Several fires rage across West Midlandspublished at 19:17 BST<\/p>\n<p>19:17 BST<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Multiple fires have been reported across the West Midlands starting with a blaze in Stourbridge. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">About 100 firefighters have been tackling a huge grass fire near Stourbridge Golf Course, with flames said by witnesses to be spreading across roads in some places.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) confirmed six homes were affected by the fire, while two people were injured.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Aerial image showing a scorched field that has turned black while smoke billows from a nearby housing estate.\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/a2281371-a733-4b91-9bd3-b7390b3c6b9a.jpg.webp\"  width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" class=\"ssrcss-egie1y-Image edrdn950\"\/>Image source, WMFS<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Elsewhere, homes in Castle Vale, Birmingham, were badly damaged by a fire with one woman reported to have suffered serious injuries, according to WMFS. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service declared a major incident due to a &#8220;large fire&#8221; at Tothall Lane, Salford Priors, near Alcester.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">People have been told to avoid the area, as well as keep doors and windows shut.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">There has also been a fire in Sandyford, Stoke-on-Trent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A small number of homes have been evacuated from the Sandy Road, according Staffordshire Fire &amp; Rescue Service.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A roof has partially collapsed on a bungalow.
