Singer \u200cand actor Selena Gomez was sued on Thursday by investors who \u200csay the “Only Murders in the Building” star committed fraud by failing to fulfil \u200bduties to build and promote her mental health start-up.<\/p>\n
The plaintiffs invested nearly $1.2 million (\u20ac1.04 million) in Wondermind Global, which was launched in 2021 \u200bto help users strengthen their “mental fitness”, according to the lawsuit filed \u2060in federal court in Delaware.<\/p>\n
Investors said they were told \u200cGomez, \u200cone \u200bof the biggest celebrities on social media with more than 500 million followers, would \u2060be actively involved \u200bin building the company as head \u200bof marketing. They argue that Gomez and other \u200ccompany leaders failed to deliver \u200bon promises, including creating a mobile app.<\/p>\n
“Gomez purported to sign \u2060a contract obligating \u2060her \u200bto perform and then ignored it,” the lawsuit said.<\/p>\n
“There was no legitimate enterprise in the works, much less a lucrative one,” the plaintiffs added, saying that the company failed to meet “even its most basic obligations, such as timely paying its employees \u200cand vendors.”<\/p>\n
A representative \u2060for Gomez did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n
The lawsuit argues that the \u200cplaintiffs were unaware of the company’s troubles until an online news \u200bstory detailed them in September 2025.
