Tommy Fleming has opened up about his life since coming out as gay and a leaked WhatsApp voice note in his first television interview since it went viral.<\/p>\n

In May, the crooner admitted he had been “living a lie” and spoke about his marriage breakdown<\/a> in an emotional interview on Newstalk.<\/p>\n

During the interview, Fleming<\/a> came out as gay and spoke about his drug and booze battle, along with the toll it took on his mental health.<\/p>\n

In an interview on Unfiltered with Lucy Kennedy<\/a>, which will air this weekend, Fleming will reflect on a tumultuous chapter of his life.<\/p>\n

In a preview for his appearance posted to social media, Fleming said: “It’s been a strange road to navigate but it’s a lot easier to navigate this one than the one I had been navigating, if that makes sense.”<\/p>\n

“It’s been tough… it’s not been an easy ride, and I don’t expect it to be. Don’t get me wrong. It’s been very sad. That’s the one word that really kind of stands out for me.”<\/p>\n

Speaking about the leaked WhatsApp voice note that went viral, he said: “In many ways, my hands were forced due to a recording that was made. A friend of mine rang me to say he had received this WhatsApp message with the recording on it.”<\/p>\n

“Have you ever been in a situation where… you know when people say the oxygen was taken out of the room? But this is when it leaves your body nearly,” Fleming added.<\/p>\n

He continued: “There’s a feeling of hopelessness, there’s a feeling of ‘what am I going to do?’ I was, you know… maybe it won’t pick up, you know?<\/p>\n

“And boy did it pick up.”<\/p>\n
