Mayo County Council has approved planning permission for a second drive-thru McDonald\u2019s restaurant in the county.<\/p>\n
The local authority has given the green light for the fast-food outlet in Claremorris. It will be the second McDonald’s restaurant in the county.<\/p>\n
The planning application lodged by the fast-good giant had been on hold following objections from residents and requests for further information from the council.<\/p>\n
The site is located along Knock Road, adjacent to the Silverbridge Plaza Shopping Centre.<\/p>\n
Local councillor Richard Finn had previously urged council planners to approve the development.<\/p>\n
\u201cI cannot stress the importance of such a brand wanting to come to Claremorris,\u201d Cllr Finn told a meeting of Claremorris Municipal District.<\/p>\n
He said an \u201cinternational brand who wants to invest in the area\u201d should be supported.<\/p>\n
Objections to the project included concerns over increased traffic, noise, loitering and impact on residential parking.<\/p>\n
Following engagement with Mayo County Council, the applicant proposed to feature a two-lane operating system at the restaurant. The change was made in response to concerns regarding potential traffic impacts and access to the shopping centre\u2019s existing access road.<\/p>\n
