Three Brazilian nationals have been charged with possessing close to \u20ac3.5 million in crime proceeds and enhancing a criminal organisation following a prostitution and money laundering probe.<\/p>\n
Matheus Berberick (35) and his 27-year-old sister, Maria Berberick, of Raheen Close, Tallaght<\/a>, and Sander de Silva Pereira (40), with an address at Loftus Hall, Tallaght, were remanded in custody by Judge Ciaran Liddy at Dublin District Court<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n The prosecution stems from inquiries by the Garda National Protective Services Bureau\u2019s organised prostitution investigation and human trafficking specialist units.<\/p>\n The trio are all charged with enhancing a criminal organisation and multiple counts of possessing proceeds of criminal conduct: \u20ac2.3 million for Matheus Berberick, \u20ac470,000 in his sister\u2019s case, and \u20ac721,000 in relation to Pereira.<\/p>\n Maria Berberick alone faces an additional charge for using a fake identity document as a false instrument.<\/p>\n Detectives Dwayne O\u2019Brien, Jason Guing and R\u00f3is\u00edn Reynolds told Liddy that the three defendants \u201cmade no reply\u201d when charged.<\/p>\n O\u2019Brien also told the court that the three defendants\u2019 finances remain \u201cfrozen\u201d at this stage of the investigation.<\/p>\n The offences allegedly took place at an unknown location in the State from March 1st, 2023, until August 10th, 2026.
