{"id":593329,"date":"2026-08-14T19:34:19","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T19:34:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/593329\/"},"modified":"2026-08-14T19:34:19","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T19:34:19","slug":"mona-mcsharry-takes-200m-bronze-at-european-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/593329\/","title":{"rendered":"Mona McSharry takes 200m bronze at European Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mona McSharry continued on the medal trail at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris as she claimed the bronze medal in the women&#8217;s 200m breaststroke final.<\/p>\n<p>Evgeniia Chikunova took gold in 2:19.32 with Britain&#8217;s Angharad Evans in second on 2:21.21 while McSharry&#8217;s 2:22.43 was enough to fend off Tes Schouten on the Netherlands who finished in 2:22.67.<\/p>\n<p>Ellie McCartney finished eighth in a stacked final with a time of 2:26.93.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a bit of a relief, for sure,&#8221; McSharry told RT\u00c9 Sport after her win. &#8220;I&#8217;m happy with it. As Ellen [Walshe] would say, I was fighting demons during that one.
