{"id":593839,"date":"2026-08-15T07:24:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-15T07:24:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/593839\/"},"modified":"2026-08-15T07:24:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-15T07:24:10","slug":"mastercard-global-issue-major-card-provider-systems-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/593839\/","title":{"rendered":"mastercard: \u2018Global issue\u2019 Major card provider systems down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday afternoon shoppers faced issues trying to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nine.com.au\/lifestyle\/money\" class=\"sc-eRZcwA dNXoqI\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">pay<\/a> due to an outage of Mastercard.<\/p>\n<p>The company confirmed there was an issue allowing shoppers to pay.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Saturday afternoon shoppers are facing issues trying to pay due to a reported outage of Mastercard.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/8206eb5f98ddb6af2d95be306e4cbe86437347c75612d422284d8ea00ef9569f.png\"  width=\"100%\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"_0b53bae146db0b62 _7475dd3391ee1518\" style=\"--text-color:var(--color-text-secondary)\">Saturday afternoon shoppers are facing issues trying to pay due to a reported outage of Mastercard.\u00a0Nine<\/p>\n<p>One user had a notification from CommBank saying there is a \u201cglobal issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMastercard payments are being declined due to a global Mastercard issue,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>The message advised them to insert their cart into eftpos machines and try paying that way.<\/p>\n<p>Another shopper in Sydney\u2019s inner west was also unable to pay at a sports shop they told Nine.com.au.<\/p>\n<p>Reddit users also said they were having various issues using Mastercard and ApplePay across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Internet tracker Detector logged over 1000 reports of Mastercard not working this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Commonwealth Bank said services were starting to coming back at 4pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMastercard card payments are being restored following a global Mastercard issue,\u201d it said online.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf customers are still experiencing a decline, please insert your card and select \u2018savings\u2019 to make payments via eftpos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mastercard said in a statement: \u201cA scheduled system update caused Mastercard transactions to be declined for a period of time earlier today. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe situation has been resolved and all systems are working as normal.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Saturday afternoon shoppers faced issues trying to pay due to an outage of Mastercard.
