{"id":593908,"date":"2026-08-15T09:00:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-15T09:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/593908\/"},"modified":"2026-08-15T09:00:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-15T09:00:09","slug":"civic-reception-for-all-ireland-winning-handballer-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/593908\/","title":{"rendered":"Civic reception for All-Ireland winning handballer &#8211; News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">One of the county\u2019s most talented young sportswomen will be honoured by Roscommon County Council.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The councillors of the Roscommon Municipal District voted at the May meeting for Fiona Tully of St Coman&#8217;s Handball Club to be honoured at the next civic reception, following her win at the All-Ireland Ladies Handball Senior Singles 40&#215;20 final in March at Croke Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The motion was tabled by Cllr Ruth Conboy, who said that the achievement came after many years of training, hard work, and huge support from the club, Kilbride GAA Club, and Roscommon GAA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cIt\u2019s an incredible achievement,\u201d she said and her proposal received unanimous support.
