Pack a good coat because writer-director Andrew Haigh is returning for A Long Winter. The new film from the Lean On Pete director<\/a>, A Long Winter, won\u2019t premiere until the fall, but Mubi released a few first-look images to give us a taste of the cold amid the dog days of summer. The film stars Fred Hechinger, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Kit Connor, Caitriona Balfe, and D\u2019Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai<\/a>, and sees a family preparing for the titular season amid internal conflict. Mubi hasn\u2019t released a more robust logline for the film than that, but the 2025 short story by Colm T\u00f3ib\u00edn follows a boy named Miquel, who lives in the Pyrenees mountains with his family. As they\u2019re preparing for the cold, his mother abandons the homestead after a fight with her husband. As the family learns to live without her, an orphaned servant boy comes into their care, and Miquel begins to harbor feelings for him.
