UPCOMING RECORDINGS OF Mrs Brown\u2019s Boys shows have been cancelled due to an \u201cunexpected medial issue\u201d involving Brendan O\u2019Carroll.<\/p>\n
O\u2019Carroll (70) is the creator and star of the show.<\/p>\n
In a statement posted to social media, O\u2019Carroll said it is with \u201csincere regret I must announce that due to an unexpected medical issue I will have to cancel the recordings of the 2026 Mrs. Brown\u2019s Boys Christmas and New Year\u2019s Specials\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cFollowing a CT scan, it was found that I had two fractures in my mandible (jaw) which requires immediate surgery and a few months\u2019 recovery,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
O\u2019Carroll said he is in talks with the BBC \u201cabout getting Mrs Brown\u2019s Boys back on the screen in 2027\u201d.<\/p>\n
The medial issue will also see the postponement of both the 3Arena Dublin and Gleneagle Arena showings of Mrs Brown\u2019s Boys D\u2019Panto?, which were scheduled for later this year.<\/p>\n
O\u2019Carroll said he is working with MCD to try to reschedule these shows for next year\/<\/p>\n
He thanked both the BBC and MCD for their \u201csupport and understanding at this difficult time\u201d.<\/p>\n
O\u2019Carroll stated that the decision \u201chas not been taken lightly and has been made on medical advice from my consultant\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo say I am heartbroken is an absolute understatement,\u201d said O\u2019Carroll.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to sincerely apologise to all our fans who were looking forward to seeing the shows and for any disappointment caused.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that he will now \u201cfocus on getting myself back to full health\u201d and said that he \u201cgenuinely cannot wait to see you all again in 2027\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur fans mean the world to us,\u201d said O\u2019Carroll.<\/p>\n
