Sachin Bansal-led Navi saw its market share further increasing to 4% in the month under review from 3.7% in June and 3.6% in May<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, market leaders PhonePe and Google Pay continued to lose share marginally in the month as well, with their combined share slipped to 78.6%<\/p>\n

As per NPCI\u2019s data, UPI transaction volume rose 4% to 23.66 Bn in July from 22.72 Bn in June, The total transaction value increased 3% to \u20b929.88 Lakh Cr during the month under review from \u20b928.92 Lakh Cr in June<\/p>\n

The Indian UPI market saw some shifts in the month of July even as the top ten players managed to retain their positions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Prominently, Sachin Bansal-led Navi saw its market share further increasing to 4% in the month under review from 3.7% in June and 3.6% in May.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The fintech startup, which is eyeing to go public in the near future, recorded 94.7 Cr transactions worth \u20b948,318 Cr\u00a0 in the month of July, up 12% and 10% respectively from 84.3 Cr transactions worth\u00a0 \u20b943,948.6 Cr recorded in June.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, market leaders PhonePe and Google Pay continued to lose share marginally in the month as well. While their combined share slipped to 78.6%, PhonePe processed 1,085.8 Cr transactions worth \u20b914.4 Lakh Cr during the month and Google Pay recorded 764.98 Cr transactions valued at \u20b910 Lakh Cr.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While most fintech players saw month-on-month (MoM) fluctuations in market share, Paytm held steady at 8% in July, similar to that in June.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Like Paytm, Flipkart\u2019s super.money, WhatsApp, CRED, Amazon Pay, and BHIM UPI largely retained their June market shares, despite minor MoM changes in transaction volumes and values. These players saw a recovery in the market share commanded by smaller players to 3.8% from 3.6% last month. \u00a0<\/p>\n

As per NPCI\u2019s data, UPI transaction volume rose 4% to 23.66 Bn in July<\/a> from 22.72 Bn in June, The total transaction value increased 3% to \u20b929.88 Lakh Cr during the month under review from \u20b928.92 Lakh Cr in June. While transaction volume grew 22% YoY, transaction amount zoomed 19% on a yearly basis in July.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"UPI<\/p>\n

This comes at a time when the UPI ecosystem is also entering a new phase on the monetisation front. Parliament has cleared a bill that enables the government to introduce merchant discount rates (MDR) on select UPI transactions,<\/a> potentially opening a new revenue avenue for payment players. The move comes after years of zero-MDR UPI payments and could reshape the economics of the ecosystem.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, the proposed MDR framework is unlikely to affect the bulk of everyday UPI transactions. Last week, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman clarified that person-to-person (P2P) UPI payments will continue to remain free, while the government is expected to determine the scope of any charges on merchant transactions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bill proposes to amend section 10A of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act (PSSA), 2007. The amendment is an enabling provision. It does not impose any tax or transaction charge on UPI users. It enables the government to specify through notification the electronic payment modes that will continue to receive statutory protection against charges,\u201d the FM informed the Parliament. \u00a0<\/p>\n
