And Microsoft provided a related update to its plans to improve File Explorer by shipping an app update to Insiders that improves its context menu experience.<\/p>\n<p>New builds include:<\/p>\n<p>The biggest new feature in each is <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.windows.com\/windows-insider\/2026\/08\/17\/improving-file-explorer-context-menu-faster-simpler-and-more-customizable\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a new, redesigned context menu for File Explorer<\/a>. This menu is faster, simpler, more customizable, and more consistent and predictable than before, Microsoft says, and has improved navigation workflows. There\u2019s a new \u201cCustomize menu\u201d item at its bottom that opens a new settings page for the app, and Microsoft says this is just the first of several coming updates to File Explorer, so more is on the way.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-340494\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/fe-settings-page.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"943\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are committed to continue doing the hard work and consistently improving File Explorer month after month,\u201d the File Explorer team explains. \u201cNot every update will be obvious on its own, but together they should make File Explorer feel faster, polished, and more dependable across tasks users do most.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Windows Insider Program shipped new Windows 11 pre-release builds across five channels today.
