Dublin and California-headquartered fintech Stripe has reportedly agreed a $7 billion deal to buy AI marketplace OpenRouter.<\/p>\n
OpenRouter gives users access to a wide range of AI models, allowing them to choose the best-suited or best-value rather be tied to a single platform.<\/p>\n
It was founded three years ago, and secured a $1.3 billion valuation following a fund-raising round in May.<\/p>\n
Stripe – which was founded by John and Patrick Collison – specialises in payment processing but has been rapidly growing into other areas of financial services and digital transactions.<\/p>\n
It has also been adding AI features, including automated fraud detection and the development of a payments-focused model.<\/p>\n
Last month Stripe partnered with private equity firm Advent International to make a $53 billion takeover bid for PayPal.<\/p>\n
Stripe employs around 10,000 people globally.
