Katie Taylor’s historic undisputed super lightweight title fight with Flora Pili next month at Croke Park will be available to watch live free-to-air with RT\u00c9 Sport.<\/p>\n
The farewell fight for the legendary Bray boxer will be on RT\u00c92 and RT\u00c9 Player, with 2FM providing live radio commentary.<\/p>\n
The London 2012 Olympic gold medallist and multi-weight world champion will bid to sign off her remarkable career in style when she faces undefeated French boxer Pili.<\/p>\n
A crowd of 80,000 is set to be in attendance for Taylor\u2019s momentous farewell on Saturday, 5 September, with RT\u00c9 set to bring the event to viewers throughout the Republic of Ireland after securing rights to the event.<\/p>\n
Streaming platform DAZN, which operates on a subscription basis, will broadcast the fight worldwide.<\/p>\n
Tickets for the fight were snapped up in a matter of hours for what is anticipated to be one of the greatest sporting occasions ever held in the country.<\/p>\n
Taylor has previously spoken at her disbelief at the anticipation and support for the event, having long spoken about her aspiration to box at GAA HQ.<\/p>\n
She said: “I\u2019m actually blown away.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s been an amazing few weeks since the fight was announced, even on that bus tour going around the country. I felt like a pop star.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s the fairytale ending I always wanted and I can\u2019t believe it\u2019s actually happening.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s beyond my wildest dreams at this stage, but I still know I have a job to do.”<\/p>\n

The broadcast will top off an extensive summer of sport on RT\u00c9 which has featured World Cup, GAA and European Athletics and Swimming coverage.<\/p>\n
RT\u00c9 Head of Sport Declan McBennett said: “RT\u00c9 was there at the start of Katie\u2019s journey as an amateur and we are delighted to be there for the final chapter.<\/p>\n
“Katie is, and always will be, one of Ireland’s greatest ever sporting icons and it is fitting that she ends her illustrious career in Croke Park in front of a full stadium and a national audience.”<\/p>\n
Matchroom Sport chairman Eddie Hearn said: “Saturday, 5 September is the night when Katie Taylor will bring Ireland to a standstill. A night that will be immortalised forever.<\/p>\n
“Katie is without question the greatest of all time.<\/p>\n
“I cannot think of a more fitting way to honour Katie\u2019s remarkable career by sharing this special night with millions of her loyal Irish fans, live on RT\u00c9.<\/p>\n
“She will be determined to sign-off in style and capture the undisputed crown. And for that, she absolutely deserves all the support she can get as reward for such a magnificent career.<\/p>\n
“This will be an unforgettable evening with 80,000 in attendance at Croke Park.”<\/p>\n
Hearn thanked DAZN for helping to facilitate the free-to-air agreement with RT\u00c9.<\/p>\n
The last time a professional boxing event was staged in Croke Park was July 1972 when Muhammed Ali famously took on Detroit heavyweight Al Lewis.<\/p>\n
The bout will be the best attended boxing match in the history of the country and one of the largest ever for a female sporting event in the world.<\/p>\n
Unbeaten Pili is the mandatory challenger for Taylor\u2019s IBF super-lightweight title and the top-ranked contender for the now vacant WBC belt.<\/p>\n
Taylor explained last month: “I have a real threat in front of me, someone who\u2019s going to try and ruin the night for me. I\u2019m prepared for that.<\/p>\n
“She\u2019s going to be raising her game, so I have to raise my game as well.<\/p>\n
“I have the experience not to get complacent at this stage. I\u2019m preparing for whatever comes my way on fight night, and I\u2019m planning a career-best performance.<\/p>\n
“This is another huge pressure night for me, but I love these kind of nights.”<\/p>\n
