The four-track album features Magan\u2019s spoken-word performance alongside music composed by Myles O\u2019Reilly, under the musical direction of Simon O\u2019Reilly.<\/p>\n
It has its origins in a performance at the Hedge School Festival in Doolin in 2023, where Magan presented a spoken-word piece exploring T\u00edr na n\u00d3g, the Otherworld and themes that would become familiar throughout his later work.<\/p>\n
Myles and Simon O\u2019Reilly created an improvised ambient score to accompany Magan\u2019s performance, while visual artist Crosby Dunkley provided a graphic narrative.<\/p>\n
Following Magan\u2019s death in October last year, Simon O\u2019Reilly revisited a recording of the performance and, with the support of Magan\u2019s wife Aisling and brother Ru\u00e1n, began developing it into an album.<\/p>\n
It was subsequently recorded at the National Concert Hall with Crash Ensemble, vocalist Branwen Kavanagh and harpist M\u00e9abh McKenna, before further recording took place in Doolin with violinist Ultan O\u2019Brien and double bassist Neil O\u2019Loughlin.<\/p>\n

A sold-out performance celebrating the album\u2019s release will take place at the National Concert Hall on 5 October.<\/p>\n
Lisa O\u2019Neill, Liam \u00d3 Maonla\u00ed, Colm Mac Con Iomaire, Crash Ensemble and a number of the musicians who feature on the record are due to take part.<\/p>\n
Magan, an author, documentary maker and broadcaster, became one of Ireland\u2019s best-known advocates for the Irish language and its relationship with the country\u2019s landscape, mythology and culture.<\/p>\n
His television career began with Irish-language travel programmes in the 1990s, while his later work included No B\u00e9arla and the bestselling book Thirty-Two Words for Field.<\/p>\n
Magan was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2023 and continued writing and broadcasting following his diagnosis. He died in Dublin on 2 October last year.<\/p>\n
His final documentary, Listen to the Land Speak, aired on RT\u00c9 in July 2025, while his final book, Ireland in Iceland \u2013 Gaelic Remnants in a Nordic Land<\/a>, was published that year.<\/p>\n
