The Dungeon Crawler Carl TV show has taken a big step forward with Chris Yost and Eric Heisserer being named co-showrunners for the series.<\/p>\n
Matt Dinniman’s popular LitRPG series<\/a> was officially confirmed for Peacock<\/a> earlier this year, but we haven’t heard much news about it since then. Yost had already been attached to the project as writer, but the move to co-showrunner is a step up. The addition of Heisserer brings a second helping of sci-fi chops to the series.<\/p>\n Yost has worked on a number of Star Wars and Marvel projects over the years. He acted as a consultant and writer for the first season of The Mandalorian (which IGN gave an 8 out of 10<\/a>) and co-wrote two Thor sequels (The Dark World and Ragnarok). He was also previously showrunner for the Paramount+ series Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles<\/a>.<\/p>\n Heisserer most recently worked as showrunner for Netflix’s Shadow and Bone series, which he also created and produced. You may also recognize him as the writer of Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival<\/a>, which he adapted from Ted Chiang’s popular sci-fi novella.<\/p>\n With seasoned sci-fi showrunners at the helm and Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door involved, the Dungeon Crawler Carl series seems like it’s being truly set up for success<\/a>. During San Diego Comic-Con<\/a>, it was also announced that the narrator of the audiobooks, Jeff Hays, would be reprising his role as the voice of Princess Donut. Dinniman himself praised the decision in an interview with IGN<\/a>, saying, “He’s so associated with that sound and that voice. Anybody else would be jarring.” <\/p>\n While we still don’t have any sort of release date attached to the series, the momentum created by the Dungeon Crawler Books<\/a> themselves is likely to continue for years to come. Matt Dinniman still has two books left to write, and there’s even a tabletop RPG based on the series<\/a> releasing in December.<\/p>\n On the streaming side of things, Peacock recently announced its fourth price increase<\/a> in four years.
