{"id":601351,"date":"2026-08-22T16:24:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T16:24:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/601351\/"},"modified":"2026-08-22T16:24:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T16:24:08","slug":"chinese-robot-beats-usain-bolts-100m-world-record-in-test-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/601351\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese robot beats Usain Bolt&#8217;s 100m world record in test run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A humanoid robot developed by Chinese smartphone maker Honor ran \u200c100 meters in 9.32 seconds, China&#8217;s state broadcaster reported on Saturday, \u200bbeating the human world record held by Jamaican sprinting great Usain Bolt.<\/p>\n<p>The robot, dubbed Lightning, reached a peak \u200bspeed of 14.5 meters per second during a preparatory test \u2060event for the second World Humanoid Robot Games, which \u200copened \u200cin \u200bBeijing on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The performance surpassed the 9.58-second men&#8217;s 100-metre world record set \u2060by Bolt \u200bat the World Athletics Championships \u200bin Berlin in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>China has been promoting humanoid \u200crobots as a strategic \u200bemerging industry, with policymakers and companies betting that \u2060advances in AI and hardware \u2060will \u200baccelerate their deployment in manufacturing, logistics and consumer applications.<\/p>\n<p>Lightning also won the 21-km Beijing half marathon in April in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, faster than the elite men&#8217;s human world-record pace.<\/p>\n<p>The robot stood 169 cm \u200ctall and \u2060had 95-cm legs at the half marathon.
