{"id":601495,"date":"2026-08-22T20:04:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T20:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/601495\/"},"modified":"2026-08-22T20:04:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T20:04:08","slug":"murder-inquiry-following-death-of-brazilian-woman-33-in-limerick-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/601495\/","title":{"rendered":"Murder inquiry following death of Brazilian woman (33) in Limerick \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\">Garda\u00ed<\/a> have begun a murder inquiry following a postmortem on the body of a woman who was found dead in an apartment complex in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\">Limerick<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The body of Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa (33), who was from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/brazil\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/brazil\/\">Brazil<\/a>, was discovered on the third floor of the Carlton House apartment block at Cecil Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It is understood she had been stabbed to death.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed are following a definite line of inquiry and are understood to be looking to question a man in connection with her killing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The alarm was raised after the woman\u2019s workmates grew concerned when she had not shown up for work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed arrived at the apartment block at about 7.30am on Friday, and forced entry to an apartment where they found her body.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed sealed off the building, conducted door-to-door enquiries and harvested CCTV footage from the apartment block and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Her body was taken to the mortuary in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/university-hospital-limerick\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/university-hospital-limerick\/\">University Hospital Limerick<\/a> where a postmortem was carried out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In a statement on Saturday, garda\u00ed said the results of the postmortem examination are not being released for operational reasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cAn Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na is now carrying out a murder investigation,\u201d a statement said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It added that a family liaison officer has been assigned to support the dead woman\u2019s family and the scene remains preserved for a technical examination. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation. and incident room has been established at Henry Street Garda station.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed have appealed for anyone with information to contact them. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Tributes were posted online for Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, who was a native of\u00a0Sorocaba, a city in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A friend of hers posted a picture online of them together\u00a0in happier times and said: \u201cEternal memories of you, my dear. Only God knows how much you helped me and how contagious your joy was. May the Lord Jesus recieve you in his arms eternally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cWe had many happy moments but today, you went to live with Jesus. Eternal memories.
