The Hip have been busy in the decade since the concert, though Langlois said in the miniseries that the band needed time after Downie’s death on Oct. 17, 2017, to generate any enthusiasm for anything.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Downie released the solo album Secret Path in 2016, and there have been four posthumous albums: Introduce Yerself, Away Is Mine, Lustre Parfait and (with the Sadies) Live At 6 O’Clock.<\/p>\n
The surviving band members have worked on solo projects, and the band has released additional material from several albums. There’s also been a jukebox musical written around their songs, a Juno Humanitarian Award and an induction next month into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n
The Tragically Hip is very unlikely to return, with Baker saying he has “less than zero” interest in playing full shows with another singer.<\/p>\n
“I didn’t look at that tour as a career move or album promotion,” Baker wrote in the epilogue to This Is Our Life. “I was there to support Gord. He needed me. He needed us, all of us, and it turns out millions across the nation, too.”<\/p>\n
Langlois said in the miniseries that immediately after the show, Downie said it felt like the last one.<\/p>\n
“He wasn’t saying it sadly, in a sad way, [but] that it was celebratory enough to be a last show.”<\/p>\n
