The Traitors<\/a>\u00a0star Rachel Duffy has revealed she was rushed to hospital following a horrific accident with a kitchen blender two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

The BBC<\/a>\u00a0star, 42, shared on Instagram that she was forced to undergo surgery on her right hand after ‘severing her dorsal nerve and partially lacerated her tendon’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The domestic mishap has meant Rachel now has to be in a cast for 10 weeks.<\/p>\n

Rachel warned squeamish fans to look away before sharing photos of her bruised and bloodied stitches, which she joked looks like a ‘Harry Potter<\/a> scar’.<\/p>\n

Explaining the scary ordeal for the first time on Saturday, Rachel remarked: ‘There’s always one friend in every group that’s accident prone, that would be me.’<\/p>\n

She continued: ‘Two weeks ago I had an accident with a blender blade which resulted in a trip to A&E.<\/p>\n

‘Yes I’m in flip flops and jammie bottoms as I ran out the door with a blood soaked tea towel wrapped around my hand’.<\/p>\n

Rachel visited A&E many times after suffering with ‘severe pain and numbness’ in her thumb.<\/p>\n

She captioned her post: ‘Oopsie daisy. Everydays a school day!!! The lesson learned in this little bump in the road\u2026..take the time to read the instructions on a new kitchen blender.<\/p>\n

‘A big thank you to the medical staff who looked after me over the past couple of weeks. You are absolute angels. Thank goodness I’m a leftie’.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Rachel opened up about how she coped with the loss of her beloved mum Anne just days after winning half the show’s \u00a347k prize pot.<\/p>\n

During her time on the series, the mother-of-three shared how the prize money would allow her to make memories with her mum, who was tragically diagnosed with Parkinson’s when she was just 47 and in her last few years with dementia.<\/p>\n

Following Rachel and\u00a0Stephen Libby’s win, they were catapulted into the public eye while she struggled through what she described as the ‘most difficult moment of her life’ following her mother’s death with everyone knowing her business.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She said: ‘The timing [of my mother’s death] was tough. I’d just won the show, then she passed away. I couldn’t even celebrate with her.<\/p>\n

‘I felt like the whole world knew my business, and that was hard because at the same time I was trying to navigate one of the most difficult moments of my life. But the support was phenomenal.’<\/p>\n

Rachel went on to say how she remains strong by reminding herself how much her mum would love her daughter’s new life in the spotlight.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

She explained to OK!<\/a>\u00a0how her mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of 47, just four years older than she is now, which has changed her outlook on life.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘You can look after your body, which I do \u2013 I don’t smoke, do drugs, I don’t drink much, and I eat healthily and exercise. But you don’t know what’s coming round the corner. If you have a positive mindset, try to be healthy and enjoy life, that’s all you can do.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

On The Traitors, Rachel revealed she planned to spend her prize money making memories with her mother and hoped to take her on holiday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
