You probably still think of Alex Winter as Kiefer Sutherland\u2019s bloodsucking, peroxide-haired vampire biker mate Marko in 1987\u2019s The Lost Boys, or the air-guitaring slacker Bill S Preston Esq alongside Keanu Reeves\u2019s Ted \u201cTheodore\u201d Logan in the Bill & Ted franchise.<\/p>\n
But Winter actually started out as a child actor on Broadway, appearing in The King and I with Yul Brynner before making his big-screen debut opposite Charles Bronson in 1985\u2019s Death Wish 3. As well as the above, he played poet and physician John William Polidori in 1988\u2019s Haunted Summer, and co-wrote, co-directed and starred in the 1993 cult comedy Freaked.<\/p>\n
Since then, Winter has mainly been behind the camera: he wrote and directed the well-received psychological thriller Fever, starring ET the Extra-Terrestrial\u2019s Henry Thomas, in 1999, and has made documentaries on everything from the dark web to child stardom and Frank Zappa. In 2020, he reunited with his old buddy Reeves for a third Bill & Ted film; and then reunited with him again in 2025, playing Vladimir opposite Reeves\u2019s Estragon in Waiting for Godot on Broadway<\/a>.<\/p>\n So, what to ask him?
