As the eventual release of the 27-generation gets ever nearer, Apple has introduced its seventh developer betas for iOS 27<\/a>, iPadOS 27, tvOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and macOS 27. <\/p>\n

The Apple Developer Beta program has reached the seventh round for the upcoming iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, tvOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27 releases, expected this September. <\/p>\n

The seventh arrives after the sixth, which Apple brought out on August 17<\/a>. The fifth round took place on August 10<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The fourth was distributed on July 20<\/a>, the third developer builds arrived on July 6<\/a>, while the second occurred on June 22<\/a> for most of the operating systems. The watchOS 27<\/a> counterparts landed later, on June 23<\/a> and June 25.<\/a> <\/p>\n

The seventh builds are: <\/p>\n

iOS 27 beta 7 is 24A5424a, replacing 24A5418b
\niPadOS 27 beta 7 is 24A5424a, replacing 24A5418b
\nmacOS 27 beta 7 is 26A5421a, replacing 26A5416b
\ntvOS 27 beta 7 is 24J5358a, replacing 24J5353b
\nwatchOS 27 beta 7 is 24R5358a, replacing 24R5353a
\nvisionOS 27 beta 7 is 24M5359a, replacing 24M5355a
\nHomePod Software 27 beta 7 is 24J5358a, replacing 24J5353b. <\/p>\n

At the same time, Apple has also issued release candidates: <\/p>\n

macOS 26.7 RC 2 is 25G224, replacing 25G220
\nmacOS 15.8 RC 2 is 24H20, replacing 24H16<\/p>\n

The initial developer builds of iOS 27, iPadOS 27<\/a>, macOS 27<\/a>, tvOS 27<\/a>, visionOS 27<\/a>, and watchOS 27<\/a> were made available on June 8<\/a>, shortly after the WWDC keynote. <\/p>\n

The first round included updates to Liquid Glass, the overhaul of Siri<\/a>, a selection of child-protective features, and many other smaller changes. <\/p>\n

The second iOS 27 beta included<\/a> an update to Apple TV<\/a> in the Home app, showing it like a connected HomePod<\/a> or HomePod mini<\/a>. The Apple Wallet<\/a> also added an insights option. <\/p>\n

The third<\/a> included some visual tweaks, with more customization options added for Siri AI on newer iPhone models. <\/p>\n

Round 5 expanded<\/a> the Siri AI customization options to British English, a few visual tweaks to various apps, and a new Liquid Glass look for the Siri app icon. <\/p>\n

Settings added a Before Searching option, so users can choose which apps appear as suggestions. Control Center got tweaked to remove cellular network types when you’re on Wi-Fi. <\/p>\n

At your own risk<\/p>\n

While AppleInsider regularly warns readers that people trying out beta software should do so on secondary, spare hardware instead of their mission-critical or daily driver devices, it’s something that actually matters more this time around. <\/p>\n

It’s because Apple’s early developer betas are for an operating system that is still under active development. There’s a higher chance of buggy, broken, and potentially harmful elements being distributed. <\/p>\n

The initial builds are also intended to help developers learn about the operating system changes before the final public release later in 2026. It’s not meant to be used by consumers. <\/p>\n

Unless you have a vested interest in using them, such as app development, don’t install the early developer betas. <\/p>\n

Instead, members of the public should seek out the public betas<\/a>. They are much safer alternatives if you want to try out iOS 27 now. <\/p>\n

Even so, while the public betas reduce risk to your data compared to the developer betas, there is still some risk. <\/p>\n
