The Government will launch a strategy to grow employment in the international financial services sector to 70,000 by 2030, with one in four of the jobs located outside of Dublin.<\/p>\n
The sector’s 600 firms currently employ around 61,000 people across the country.<\/p>\n
The Ireland for Finance Strategy contains 31 actions designed to cut red tape, strengthen Ireland’s competitiveness as an international financial services centre, and support innovation.<\/p>\n
The plan contains a major focus on technology and digital transformation, including AI, digital assets and tokenisation.<\/p>\n
Under the strategy, a new Digital Assets Industry Group will be established, while legislation will be reviewed to support areas including tokenised investment funds.<\/p>\n
Ireland is currently the fourth-largest exporter of financial services in the EU and is a major European centre for funds and asset management, aviation finance, insurance, banking and capital markets.<\/p>\n
T\u00e1naiste and Minister for Finance Simon Harris and Minister of State Robert Troy will launch the strategy later today.<\/p>\n
Mr Harris is expected to say that the Government wants to build on the sector\u2019s strong employment growth over the past decade, while ensuring Ireland remains competitive.<\/p>\n
Mr Troy will say that the new strategy is about taking advantage of the opportunities presented by transformation and new technology, while maintaining a robust and proportionate regulatory framework.<\/p>\n
