\n\tDays after releasing a stellar new song exclusively via CD<\/a> at one indie record shop, Olivia Rodrigo<\/a> has officially dropped \u201cSerena Joy\u201d on all platforms. <\/p>\n

\n\tWith its layers of jubilant Devo-like synths, \u201cSerena Joy\u201d sounds sonically similar to the You Look Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love<\/a> track \u201cExpectations,\u201d only the new gem is inspired by The Handmaid\u2019s Tale, with lyrics like \u201cIf they do it to them\/They\u2019ll do it to you.\u201d She co-wrote it with her longtime collaborator Dan Nigro, who also produced the track.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a recent video interview with ETalk<\/a>, Rodrigo said \u201cSerena Joy\u201d was initially recorded for Girl So in Love, but it was ultimately cut. \u201cI actually really love that song,\u201d she said. \u201cIt didn\u2019t fit on the record. The record was very much a chronicle of a relationship \u2014 beginning, middle and end. And that song didn\u2019t really fit in the story I was trying to tell. But I hope that it\u2019ll be a part of something else down the line.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRodrigo first released \u201cSerena Joy\u201d exclusively on CD, now on eBay<\/a> for more than $300 (and currently unavailable via Discogs<\/a>). That CD was only available for purchase at Tustin, California\u2019s Analog Music Shop, seven-and-a-half miles away from her upcoming inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival<\/a> in Irvine\u2019s Great Park.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen we heard that Olivia Rodrigo was bringing an all-women music festival to Orange County, we were honestly just excited to see something this special happening right here in our hometown,\u201d the record shop wrote on social media. \u201cAs one of the closest record stores in the area, we wanted to find a way to support Daisy Chain Fields.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe shop added: \u201cMore than anything, we\u2019re grateful for what this represents: An artist building a stage for women in music and raising funds for women and girls. An artist willing to support a local independent record store. And a hometown getting to be part of something really special. That means a lot to us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRodrigo will debut \u201cSerena Joy\u201d during her headlining set at Daisy Chain Fields, and will donate a portion of net proceeds to the festival\u2019s fund<\/a>.
