\n\tPerez Hilton<\/a>\u2018s brother-in-law has provided an update on the celebrity blogger\u2019s health<\/a>, telling podcast host Chris Booker that he remains hospitalized as he\u2019s treated for broken bones and wounds from a self-inflicted cutting incident that he livestreamed on TikTok earlier this month. Hilton fell during the livestream while suffering blood loss and was later treated for an overdose.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe incident took place on Aug. 4 and was streamed on TikTok for 30 minutes before being removed from the platform. Hilton\u2019s children were in the home moments before it occurred and were rushed to safety before paramedics arrived and treated the single father of three for an overdose. Since then, the family has asked for privacy while continuing to share updates on Hilton\u2019s recovery in a Miami hospital<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Monday, Hilton\u2019s brother-in-law Tom, who is married to his youngest sister, shared an update on the blogger\u2019s condition \u2014 and further details on the incident and his children\u2019s situation \u2014 as a guest on The Perez Hilton Podcast With Chris Booker<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tTom framed the incident in the context of Hilton\u2019s recent, impulsive relocation from Las Vegas to his hometown of Miami. The move came after a health scare in which Hilton developed sepsis and brought him closer to a network of family members who could support him as he raises his three children.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think that if you know Mario, he can be a little impulsive at times. That\u2019s part of him, it\u2019s part of his personality,\u201d Tom said. \u201cI don\u2019t know if that was a red flag, but we also had never had a situation with him as serious, medically, as that sepsis situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTom went on to update Hilton\u2019s physical and mental condition as he begins his recovery.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cUp until about 48 hours or so before this recording, he was being treated for physical issues from the incident \u2014 the cutting and a couple of falls that happened during this process,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re now just transitioning into the mental side of things \u2014 the actual healing or digging into what caused this mental break, as I call it, hasn\u2019t been discovered fully.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHilton\u2019s physical injuries include broken bones, Tom said, adding that doctors also discovered other issues connected to his earlier struggle with sepsis.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t know how much he does or doesn\u2019t recall,\u201d Tom said. \u201cWe\u2019ll get into that more once he\u2019s in that setting, where we\u2019re focusing on his mental health.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHilton has been in contact with family by phone through the hospital\u2019s nurses\u2019 station, as he isn\u2019t permitted electronics in his room. His brother-in-law said Hilton hasn\u2019t seen his children since the incident, as they\u2019re not allowed in the section of the hospital where he\u2019s being treated.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring the incident, Tom told Booker, Hilton believed he was doing the best thing he could for his children, all of whom were born via surrogacy. His family has since told him that isn\u2019t the case.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Aug. 7, days after the incident, Hilton\u2019s mother, Teresita Lavandeira, filed for temporary custody of Mario, 13; Mia, 11; and Mayte, 8.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cShe\u2019s always been there. She\u2019s always been somewhat of a motherly figure to them,\u201d Tom told Booker.<\/p>\n

\n\tHilton\u2019s next step will be admission to a mental health facility, Tom said, and there\u2019s no set timeline for his return home.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere\u2019s not really a time frame,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re not putting a time limit on it. We\u2019re not setting a minimum.
