Directed by Carlson Young, with a screenplay written by Anna Klassen, The Last Sunrise stars Maia Reficco as Oriah \u201cRy\u201d Pera, a teenage girl dealing with epilepsy. She\u2019s told by her doctor that there is a surgery that might cure her, but it comes with the risk of losing all her memories. Ry declines to have the surgery, and instead promises to be good about taking her medication every few hours, even though the meds make her feel numb.<\/p>\n

Ry takes a trip with her mother, Isolde (played by Eva Longoria) to the Spanish island of Majorca, where Isolde grew up. There, Ry meets a charming young Spanish hottie named Julian (Fernando Lindez), and the sparks are immediate\u2014even if Julian has some judgy things to say about Ry being an American tourist. <\/p>\n
