She continued: \u201c9 To 5 was originally written and produced by Dolly, whose extraordinary talent, creativity and spirit are woven into every part of this work.<\/p>\n
\u201cTonight, we will perform the piece as she intended, with great respect and affection for the woman whose vision brought it to life.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tracey added that \u201cour thoughts are with Dolly\u2019s family, friends and all those around the world who loved and admired her\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, as we begin, we dedicate tonight\u2019s performance to Dolly Parton, with our deepest thanks for the music, laughter and joy she gave us.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a post after the show, Tracey remarked that it was an \u201chonour to be on this stage tonight in Dolly\u2019s shoes\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cRest in peace, our country queen,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
In a social media post, a member of the audience said it was a \u201cshock finding that out just before the show\u201d.<\/p>\n
However, she added: \u201cWhat a wonderful way it was to celebrate her life and some of her work.<\/p>\n
\u201cHuge kudos and love to the cast and crew for still absolutely smashing their performances.\u201d<\/p>\n
Paul Jepson, the musical\u2019s director, added: \u201cIt has been an honour for all of us to work on this show, originally written and produced by Dolly, whose extraordinary talent, creativity and spirit are woven into every part.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a musical about Parton\u2019s life, Dolly: A True Original Musical, is due to begin previews on Broadway later this year before opening night in January 2027, on what would have been Parton\u2019s 81st birthday.<\/p>\n
The show was the passion project of Parton\u2019s final years.<\/p>\n
Last month she said in a statement: \u201cMy whole life has been a musical. A grand ole opera really and I can\u2019t wait to present it to you on Broadway. I hope you enjoy watching as much as I\u2019ve enjoyed livin\u2019 it.\u201d<\/p>\n
