Barry Manilow to take a ‘quick break’ after \u2018pushing too hard\u2019 on summer tour<\/p>\n
Barry Manilow has said he will take a break after “pushing too hard” during his summer tour, days after cancelling two Las Vegas residency shows.<\/p>\n
The singer, 83, shared a statement on Instagram that read: “Hi everybody – Barry here. And I want you to be the first to know that we\u2019re going to take a quick break.<\/p>\n
“We just finished a fantastic summer tour. 29 shows in 68 days. The shows were fantastic. The audiences were fantastic. And I sounded fantastic.<\/p>\n
“But it seems that we were pushing a little too hard. Now we all need to sit down and shut up.<\/p>\n
“So, we\u2019re going to take a break until we return to the Westgate Las Vegas on October 8th.<\/p>\n
“When I\u2019ll be singing like a bird. I hope to see you then.”<\/p>\n
It comes after Manilow cancelled two Las Vegas residency dates on 21 and 22 of August.<\/p>\n
In a statement, he said: “We\u2019re very sorry but we have to cancel tonight\u2019s and tomorrow\u2019s performances. Due to technical and vocal problems, we\u2019re unable to put on our show.”<\/p>\n
The performer also cancelled a show in Lexington, Kentucky, that was due to take place on 4 August.<\/p>\n
In a post on X, he wrote: “Due to unforeseen circumstances tonight\u2019s show in Lexington has been rescheduled.”<\/p>\n
The performance was previously postponed in March due to Manilow\u2019s lung cancer treatment.<\/p>\n
Manilow underwent a lobectomy in December 2025 and had to spend seven days in an intensive care unit, which he described as a “nightmare”.<\/p>\n
A lobectomy is a procedure to remove a section, or lobe, of the lung. It is a common treatment for people with lung cancer.<\/p>\n
Speaking to People magazine about his health, he said: “You just don\u2019t even think about (how fragile life is). And suddenly, you have lung cancer.<\/p>\n
“But I\u2019m still here. I\u2019m not all here; there\u2019s part of me that isn\u2019t here – they took out a part of me, and now I\u2019ve got to figure out: \u2018What do I do?\u2019<\/p>\n
“This really rocked me, but I\u2019m getting stronger, and we\u2019ll see if I can make it back.”<\/p>\n
