Purchases of singles on physical formats dropped dramatically around the world years ago as the internet changed the music business. First, people pirated whatever they wanted, stealing from artists and labels. Then iTunes altered the game by allowing listeners to easily purchase individual tracks online, as well as EPs and full albums. In the past decade or so, streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and others have once again revolutionized how people access the music they love.<\/p>\n
While listening to virtually any composition is easier than ever, a generation of fans has returned to purchasing music on physical media. Younger audiences especially love to buy CDs and vinyl, not just when it comes to albums, but also individual tunes as well. That is a major shift \u2013 a highly lucrative one \u2013 that a number of newer stars have capitalized on. <\/p>\n
Olivia Rodrigo<\/a> has demonstrated her ability to sell hit singles on multiple formats many times throughout her career. This week, two of her biggest tunes return to the same roster in the United Kingdom as fans turn them into bestsellers once more.<\/p>\n Olivia Rodrigo Returns Two Physical Bestsellers<\/p>\n \u201cDrop Dead\u201d<\/a> and \u201cVampire\u201d return together to the Official Physical Singles chart<\/a> this week. \u201cDrop Dead\u201d reenters at No. 25, while \u201cVampire\u201d comes back at No. 43 on the ranking that focuses specifically on the top-selling tunes in the U.K. on physical formats, such as CD and vinyl.<\/p>\n Olivia Rodrigo Has Ruled With \u201cVampire\u201d and Other Hits<\/p>\n Of the two returning hits, only \u201cVampire\u201d has reached No. 1 on the Official Physical Singles chart. \u201cDrop Dead\u201d missed out on ruling by a single rung, peaking at No. 2. <\/p>\n \u201cVampire\u201d<\/a> is one of three Rodrigo champions on the physical-only roster, alongside her cover of Noah Kahan\u2019s \u201cStick Season\u201d and \u201cThe Cure.\u201d \u201cDrop Dead\u201d is tied with Guts: The Secret Tracks \u2013 an EP short enough that the Official Charts Company classified it as a single \u2013 and \u201cBuddy Holly,\u201d a cover of the Weezer tune that credits the original band. All three of those cuts peaked at No. 2.<\/p>\n Olivia Rodrigo Has a Perfect Top 10 Track Record<\/p>\n Rodrigo has placed 10 releases on the Official Physical Singles chart since first reaching the ranking with \u201cDrivers License\u201d in June 2021, and every one of them has entered the top 10. Her debut hit peaked at No. 10, which remains her career low point. <\/p>\n \u201cVampire\u201d is far and away her longest-charting title on the tally with 139 weeks to its credit. Only three other songs have managed double-digit runs on the list: \u201cDrop Dead\u201d with 16 frames, \u201cBad Idea Right?\u201d with 14 and \u201cCan\u2019t Catch Me Now\u201d with 11.<\/p>\n \u201cDrop Dead\u201d Appears on Three Charts This Week<\/p>\n \u201cVampire\u201d can only be found on the Official Physical Singles chart this week, while \u201cDrop Dead\u201d appears on a trio of U.K. rosters. The latter rises to No. 30 on the Official Streaming ranking, while slipping to No. 88 on the Official Singles Sales tally.<\/p>\n Olivia Rodrigo Fills Her Three Singles Chart Slots<\/p>\n Three other Rodrigo songs, all featured on her latest album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, make space on the Official Singles chart this week. \u201cThe Cure\u201d<\/a> returns to the top 10 as it jumps from No. 11 to No. 8, while \u201cStupid Song\u201d drops to No. 19 and \u201cHoneybee\u201d inches up to No. 50. Artists are generally limited to three entries at once as lead acts on the main ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.K., and Rodrigo fills all three available slots.<\/p>\n \u201cHoneybee\u201d appears only on the Official Singles chart, while \u201cThe Cure\u201d also holds at No. 15 on the Official Streaming tally. \u201cStupid Song\u201d is Rodrigo\u2019s busiest hit this frame, as it can be found on four U.K. rankings. In addition to the main singles and streaming rosters, it climbs to Nos. 28 and 30 on the Official Singles Downloads and Official Singles Sales charts, respectively.<\/p>\n
