Coronation Street viewers have done a double-take after clocking a Dolly Parton reference in tonight’s episode. The one-of-a-kind queen of country music passed away just yesterday<\/a> (25 August).<\/p>\n

The reference was not added last-minute and the timing is purely coincidental – but fans have taken to social media to point out the “spooky timing”.<\/p>\n

The moment happened when Todd was speaking to guest character Celeste, telling her that she “probably won’t be welcomed in the ranch any time soon.”<\/p>\n

“I guess there’s only one thing left to do. Pray,” Celeste responded.<\/p>\n

When Todd said he didn’t know that Celeste was religious, she clarified: “To the majesty herself, Dolly Parton!”<\/p>\n

Taking to Bluesky, one viewer said<\/a>: “Dolly getting a mention on #Corrie #CoronationStreet and it not even being a drop-in clip newly filmed, it was a bit they\u2019ll have filmed months ago”, adding a butterfly emoji.<\/p>\n

It’s not even the first Dolly reference this week, with another fan quipping<\/a>: “#Corrie really picked the absolute worst timing to have a character who is a huge Dolly Parton fan, arranging her own funeral.”<\/p>\n

Over on X, someone else said<\/a>: “The Dolly Parton reference on today\u2019s episode of Coronation Street, though. They usually film 6-8 weeks in advance and there definitely was no time to rewrite this scene after the news of her death. Crazy timing.”<\/p>\n

“I know Celeste is a massive Dolly fan but spooky timing #corrie,” said another fan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Celeste is only in the soap for a short time, and Bernie – Celeste’s niece – will be left reeling next week when she passes away, opening up more complications<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Even though she knew Celeste didn’t have long, Bernie wasn’t interested in making amends,” explained our Corrie insider. <\/p>\n

“But when Celeste actually passes away, Bernie has to deal with the fact she threw away the chance to reconcile \u2013 especially when a heartbreaking twist in the tale throws her life into a complete spin. What was Celeste hiding?”<\/p>\n
