The PIF has poured more than $5 billion into LIV \u200bGolf since the breakaway circuit launched in 2022 but said in April it would cut funding at the close \u2060of the league\u2019s 2026 season, which ended at the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cAs a result, we are \u200cscaling \u200cback \u200boperations as we transition to the next chapter of LIV Golf and work toward making LIV 2.0 a reality,\u201d a LIV spokesperson said \u2060in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cThis week, we informed \u200bmany of our colleagues that their employment under \u200bLIV 1.0 will end in the first week of September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cWe are grateful to our employees for \u200ctheir hard work and dedication in \u200bbuilding LIV Golf, and we remain committed to supporting those affected through this transition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The workforce \u2060reduction was expected as LIV had notified \u2060its corporate employees \u200bin the United States and Britain of potential staffing reductions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">LIV has a global staff of more than 300 people and remains optimistic about the return of many of those employees should LIV 2.0 move forward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The rebel circuit, which used massive signing bonuses to poach big-name players like Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm, remains confident about its ability to finalise a potential transaction that will make its next iteration a \u200creality.
