Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee<\/a> will shoot a new Netflix<\/a> comedy series JIG in Northern Ireland<\/a> next year.<\/p>\n

The six-part mockumentary is set in the high-stakes world of competitive Irish dancing.<\/p>\n

A synopsis for the show JIG says: \u201cBest friends Cara and Fletcher, from the struggling Sweeney School of Dance in Derry, take on their sworn rivals in Florida, a slick, sponsored, seemingly unbeatable operation. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe follow both teams as they journey towards the all-important world championships. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut who will lift that trophy?\u201d<\/p>\n

In other new Netflix programmes, Galway native Nicola Coughlan<\/a> is among the cast of Untitled Dahl Stories For Adults.<\/p>\n

The six-part series also stars Naomi Scott, Josh Finan, Imelda Staunton, Toby Jones and Dominic West. The series is based on a collection of Roald Dahl\u2019s short stories for adults, which goes into production this month in Manchester and across the north of England. <\/p>\n

Netflix has also greenlit Jonny Boy, a five-episode prequel from the world of Top Boy with Academy Award-nominated and BAFTA-winning actor Barry Keoghan<\/a> reprising his role as Jonny<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Jonny Boy will see the Oscar-nominated Dubliner explore the character\u2019s origin story in a five-episode prequel show.<\/p>\n

Filming is scheduled to begin in 2027. The series has been written by Belfast-born Ronan Bennett with Ali Abbasi directing.<\/p>\n
