{"id":606532,"date":"2026-08-27T20:12:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T20:12:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/606532\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T20:12:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T20:12:12","slug":"arrest-after-e1-6m-worth-of-cannabis-seized-in-co-louth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/606532\/","title":{"rendered":"Arrest after \u20ac1.6m worth of cannabis seized in Co Louth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man in his 40s has been arrested following the seizure of \u20ac1.6 million worth of cannabis in Co Louth.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, Revenue Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), and the Organised Crime Unit of the PSNI seized a total of 119 kg of cannabis with an estimated value of \u20ac1,666,000, as part of a joint operation.<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed said a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking after a vehicle was stopped in the Dundalk area.<\/p>\n<p>He is being held for questioning in a garda station in Co Louth.<\/p>\n<p>Follow-up searches were carried out in Newtownabbey in Co Antrim as part of the operation.<\/p>\n<p>A further 45kg of cannabis, half a kilogram of cocaine, 22 imitation firearms and \u00a325,000 cash were seized by the Police Service of Northern Ireland&#8217;s Organised Crime Unit.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"22 imitation firearms seized in Co Antrim\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/0024e887-614.jpg\"\/><br \/>\nThe 22 imitation firearms seized in Newtownabbey in Co Antrim.
