Lunch was prepared by the Tiger Balm Supper Club, with all the ingredients coming from the many fantastic community gardens across Cork city.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/5207875_2_articleinline_DSC1804.jpeg.jpg\" alt=\"All the fun of the dance at the Blackpool Block Party.\" title=\"All the fun of the dance at the Blackpool Block Party.\" class=\"card-img\"\/>All the fun of the dance at the Blackpool Block Party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Gardeners from the Health Action Zone and the Blackpool Men\u2019s Shed also gave away seasonal produce from the local community gardens, as well as free planters, pots, compost and seeds, so people could grow their own at home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">There were also flash fiction workshops with Graffiti Theatre, an art installation called \u2018Hope Has Wings\u2019 produced by Cork City Partnership, acrobatics workshop by Streetacro extraordinaire Ally Futto and DIY bike repair workshops with Cork Community Bikes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/5207878_2_articleinline_DSC1464.jpeg.jpg\" alt=\"Tiger Balm Supper Club preparing food for the Blackpool Block Party.\" title=\"Tiger Balm Supper Club preparing food for the Blackpool Block Party.\" class=\"card-img\"\/>Tiger Balm Supper Club preparing food for the Blackpool Block Party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The event also featured DIY clothes repair workshops and sustainable fashion related events with Cork Environmental Forum and Restyle Ireland, gardening displays from Meitheal Follaine and NICHE Community Gardens, smoothie bikes for a healthy shake, a repair caf\u00e9 where visitors could learn to fix broken items, knitting classes run by the Blackpool Knitting Group, a Creative Garden display by Corlann Blackpool, a c\u00e9il\u00ed on the street, street games, and craft stalls.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/5207881_2_articleinline_DSC1603.jpeg.jpg\" alt=\"Time for tea at the Blackpool Block Party.\u00a0\" title=\"Time for tea at the Blackpool Block Party.\u00a0\" class=\"card-img\"\/>Time for tea at the Blackpool Block Party.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The Blackpool Block Party was produced by Cork Community Art Link and supported by SICAP, Cork City Council, Slaintecare, Safefood, Health Action Zone, HSE, Blackpool Community Centre, Cork Environmental Forum, Blackpool Credit Union, Cork Volunteer Centre, and local businesses.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/5207884_2_articleinline_DSC1802.jpeg.jpg\" alt=\"Dancing at the Blackpool Block Party.\u00a0\" title=\"Dancing at the Blackpool Block Party.\u00a0\" class=\"card-img\"\/>Dancing at the Blackpool Block Party.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Blackpool Block Party took place last weekend on Great William O\u2019Brien Street.
