Coronation Street is set to bring back fan-favourite character Dr Gaddas after a year off our screens, but her return sparks concern – who is going to suffer a health scare that necessitates a visit to the doc, and how serious will it be?<\/p>\n

The character, played by Christine Mackie, was last seen on screen in summer 2025 as part of Kevin Webster’s cancer storyline – thankfully giving him good news about his treatments.<\/p>\n

Mackie has been spotted in the cast list for next week’s episodes, but ITV hasn’t revealed exactly what storyline Dr Gaddas’s return will be part of.<\/p>\n

After she was introduced in 2014, Dr Gaddas has become a fan-favourite character, with viewers on Reddit<\/a> dubbing her ‘Badass Gadass’ and calling for a storyline of her own.<\/p>\n

“I need to know her back story home life and what lead her to becoming the only doctor in the greater Manchester area,” one person wrote, with many agreeing.<\/p>\n

There is some precedent of that happening, as Lisa Connor-Swain went from a recurring authority character to one of the soap’s biggest names. After 12 years, isn’t it finally time that Dr Gaddas got her moment in the spotlight?<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the soap is currently airing a rather unusual death story, as new character Celeste has turned up on the cobbles to plan her own death<\/a> with just a few weeks left to live.<\/p>\n

The character is a big country music fan, constantly singing Dolly Parton, and wants to have a big sparkly rhinestone funeral.<\/p>\n

This meant that the show coincidentally included a reference to the legendary singer the day after<\/a> it was announced that she had died<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX<\/a>.<\/p>\n
