{"id":607580,"date":"2026-08-28T20:10:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-28T20:10:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/607580\/"},"modified":"2026-08-28T20:10:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-28T20:10:13","slug":"man-fined-after-razors-alcohol-and-fragrances-thefts-in-letterkenny","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/607580\/","title":{"rendered":"Man fined after razors, alcohol and fragrances thefts in Letterkenny"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been fined after stealing over \u20ac400 worth of items from shops in Letterkenny this week.<\/p>\n<p>Noel McLaughlin, who has 50 previous convictions, admitted the offences when he appeared before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.donegaldaily.com\/courts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Letterkenny District Court.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>McLaughlin was charged with stealing \u20ac66 worth of alcohol and razor blades valued at \u20ac53.94 from Tesco on August 26, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The 42-year-old, who has no fixed abode, was also charged with stealing fragrances worth \u20ac307 from Boots.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Garda Ryan Ward gave evidence of arresting McLaughlin, who made no reply when charged.<\/p>\n<p>McLaughlin told the court that he wanted to plead guilty to the offences.<\/p>\n<p>Garda Sergeant Oliver Devaney outlined the incidents to the court. He said he is staying \u201cup the North\u201d and goes \u201cback and forth\u201d between Letterkenny and Derry.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Liddy said this was a very early plea and would give McLaughlin the appropriate credit.
