We finally got our first official look at the upcoming claymation series Pok\u00e9mon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch\u2019d and Pichu<\/a>, which will debut exclusively on Disney+ next year.<\/p>\n

It goes without saying that there\u2019s a lotta hype around this charming show. Mainly because it\u2019s dream collab with Aardman<\/a>, the incomparable British studio behind certified classics like Chicken Run, Shaun the Sheep, and Wallace & Gromit.\u00a0And, given Pok\u00e9mon\u2019s past successes with Dwarf Animation\u2019s stop-motion series,\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon Concierge<\/a>, it\u2019s delightful to see the series lean all the way in on the cuteness aggression of its titular creatures with shows that practically sell plushies. Especially since this time around the series isn\u2019t centered on mascot glory hog<\/a>\u00a0Pikachu, but instead on the electric mouse\u2019s pre-evolution form<\/a> getting into some zany misadventures with the green onion-wielding duck, Sirfetch\u2019d.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the show\u2019s official logline:<\/p>\n

In Pok\u00e9mon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch\u2019d & Pichu, Sirfetch\u2019d and Pichu embark on an epic journey through the Galar Region. Together, they set out on a gallant quest to help and protect Pok\u00e9mon across the region. Their missions rarely go as planned, but their noble deeds forge their friendship as they step bravely into the unknown where peril, alliances, rivalries, extraordinary Pok\u00e9mon, and endless laughs await them.<\/p>\n

Other than the above, we know the series takes place in Pok\u00e9mon Sword & Shield\u2018s UK-inspired region of Galar<\/a>. What\u2019s more, the series won\u2019t follow the human point of view but will instead offer a show from the diminutive perspective of its pocket monsters. If only kaiju media would take more pointers from the Pok\u00e9mon Company. Plus, given Aardman\u2019s aptitude for both\u00a0slapstick comedy<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0extremely colloquial Britishisms<\/a>, it\u2019s safe to say this series will bring out the latent potential of Pok\u00e9mon\u2019s chaotic side to complement the extremely chill vibes of\u00a0Concierge.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThese stories, full of adventure and heroism, all told from the perspective of Pok\u00e9mon is made even more exciting through the lens of the incredible filmmakers at Aardman,\u201d Phil Rynda, Pok\u00e9mon\u2019s director of original animation wrote in a press release. \u201cAudiences will be delighted getting to know the Sirfetch\u2019d & Pichu, and wonderful cast of Pok\u00e9mon, featured in this series. Aardman has brought Galar to life in a way that makes you feel like you can smell the air, touch the tree bark, and want to adventure alongside our series heroes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coinciding with today\u2019s trailer was the announcement that Disney will also house Pok\u00e9mon The Series: The Beginning,\u00a0which follows the adventures of Ash and Pikachu.<\/p>\n

\u201cPok\u00e9mon has that rare ability to mean something to longtime fans while continuing to feel completely relevant to young audiences today,\u201d Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, said. \u201cThis new series Pok\u00e9mon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch\u2019d & Pichu brings Aardman\u2019s signature stop-motion artistry with a bold, playful new perspective to this beloved world, giving audiences a fresh way to experience the characters they know and love. Along with Pok\u00e9mon the Series: The Beginning,\u00a0these series are powerful additions to Disney XD and Disney+.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prayer circles out for fans to get to see their favorite Galar-region Pok\u00e9mon make appearances in Pok\u00e9mon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch\u2019d & Pichu. We\u2019re not asking for much. We just wanna see Mr. Rime<\/a> show up solely for his mustachioed visage, which looks like a gold mine for British tomfoolery.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pok\u00e9mon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch\u2019d and Pichu is slated to release on Disney XD and Disney+ in 2027.<\/p>\n
