{"id":607634,"date":"2026-08-28T21:22:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-28T21:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/607634\/"},"modified":"2026-08-28T21:22:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-28T21:22:15","slug":"city-centre-complex-bought-by-property-firm-with-strong-student-accommomdation-portfolio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/607634\/","title":{"rendered":"City centre complex bought by property firm with strong student accommomdation portfolio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">Property firm Greystar has acquired the 265-bed Copley Court student-apartment complex on Anglesea St in Cork.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">They bought the purpose-built accommodation from Elkstone Real Estate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The deal brings Greystar\u2019s Irish portfolio of similar properties to 2,200 beds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Copley Court, close to City Hall, is less than 3km from University College Cork and a host of other third-level colleges, including St John\u2019s and Cork College of Commerce.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">It is fully let during the academic year, and available in summer, too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed and Greystar would not comment further, but industry sources put the value of the deal close to \u20ac33m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Cork remains one of only a small number of Irish counties to have recorded <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.echolive.ie\/corknews\/arid-41897890.html\"> growth in student bed stock <\/a>over the past year and is one of the country\u2019s largest markets by student numbers, alongside Dublin and Galway.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Copley Court is Greystar\u2019s fourth major investment in this sector in Ireland, following the acquisition of Point Campus, in Dublin, in 2024, and the 724-bed Project Galaxy portfolio, in Dublin and Galway, last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Claire Solon, managing director, Ireland, Greystar, said the latest acquisition forms part of their continued investment in Ireland. \u201cCopley Court is a strong addition to our Irish student-accommodation platform,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cCork continues to see rising demand for high-quality, well-managed student housing, and this acquisition reflects our confidence in the city\u2019s long-term fundamentals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cWe look forward to working with the local on-site team to continue delivering a high standard of accommodation and service for students in Cork, while building on the asset\u2019s established summer-letting programme.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Since it was relaunched in 2019, Copley Court has been at or near full occupancy.
