KK Lewis took to the Electric Picnic stage almost seven years to the day she received her “doomsday” Leaving Cert results.

The singer-songwriter missed out on her first choice college course and decided to defer her third choice – Children’s Nursing at Trinity College Dublin – for a year.

“I thought, ‘Okay. Trinity. I know that’s a very good college’. But I just knew in my heart it wasn’t what I wanted to do,” she told RTÉ News.

During that year, the then 19-year-old discovered her love for music and poetry.

She watched YouTube videos to learn the guitar and saved her wages as a waitress to buy an amp to busk on Grafton Street.

She then decided to enrol in a music course.

Now playing two stages at this year’s Electric Picnic, she hopes that students who are disappointed by their results never give up on their dreams.

KK Lewis took to the Electric Picnic stage almost seven years to the day she received her “doomsday”…

[8
93,61,60
post-607790","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-entertainment","tag-entertainment","tag-ie","tag-ireland
["GET
