Garda\u00ed are investigating after a grave was destroyed in Craughwell overnight.<\/p>\n
The damage was caused to a significantly built up grave at Ballymore Cemetery in Craughwell between sometime last night and into this morning.<\/p>\n
In a brief statement, Garda\u00ed confirmed they’re aware of the incident and said: “Garda\u00ed received a report of damage at a graveyard in Craughwell, Co Galway overnight on Thursday 27th August into Friday 28th August 2026. Investigations ongoing.”\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to posts from family on social media, the damage happened just 24 hours after it was erected and blessed – with photos showing the perpetrators appear to have gone to considerable efforts to completely smash the monuments adorning the grave.<\/p>\n
It’s understood the grave is for a relatively young man who died unexpectedly last year.<\/p>\n
