All before our frontal lobes have fully formed,” she wrote for Elle<\/a>.<\/p>\n “Is it any wonder so many of us struggle with addiction?<\/p>\n “The industry gives us the wound and then acts surprised when we reach for something to treat it.”<\/p>\n Anna Paquin, who was 11 when she won her Oscar for The Piano, said the deaths were more than coincidence, in a separate statement about Panettiere’s death.<\/p>\n “We are not as protected by the ‘systems’ that look great on paper, as we are supposed to be,” she wrote on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n The first child star who almost lost it all<\/p>\n There is one key piece of US law that enshrines the rights of child stars \u2014 and it is nearing 100 years old.<\/p>\n The 1939 Coogan Law is named after Jackie ‘The Kid’ Coogan, arguably Hollywood’s first child star.<\/p>\n At age four, he was foisted onto the screen by Charlie Chaplin to star 1921’s The Kid.<\/p>\n Coogan became a hit, making millions but still only received a weekly allowance of $6.25 from his family.<\/p>\n Hours after Coogan (right) filed his lawsuit, the child star act was rushed through legislation. But his fame has a dark side<\/a><\/p>\n Children are gathering large followings and earning thousands of dollars through social media influencing \u2014 but some warn it comes with a dark side.<\/p>\n No case is a better example of the risks of unregulated family vloggers than Utah mother Ruby Franke, who created a “concentration camp-like setting”<\/a> for two of her four children.\u00a0<\/p>\n Her daughter Shari Franke later testified to politicians as a “victim of family vlogging”.<\/p>\n \u00a0“If I could go back and do it all again, I’d rather have an empty bank account now and not have my childhood plastered all over the internet,” she said.<\/p>\n “No amount of money I received has made what I’ve experienced worth it.”<\/p>\n Complicating the issue is a general “reluctance to regulate what goes on in people’s homes” Dr Archer adds, while acknowledging the entertainment relies on that very access.<\/p>\n “You see the kids in their bathrooms getting ready for bed.
