Kevin Durant revealed that he and LeBron James recorded rap sessions in Philadelphia<\/p>\n
Kevin Durant<\/a> and LeBron James<\/a> are two of the most decorated players in NBA history, achieving all-time great status before retirement.<\/p>\n Already kings<\/a> of the court, Durant revealed that they quietly ventured into the music industry, creating several hip-hop collaborations.<\/p>\n Durant sat down with the Boardroom\u2019s Speedy Morman on the\u00a0\u201cBoardroom Talks\u201d<\/a>\u00a0podcast\u00a0and\u00a0shared that he and the Philadelphia 76ers<\/a> star\u00a0have more rap songs than the 2018 track they released.<\/p>\n \u201cWe had like three songs. I think\u2026 Me and Rich Paul really were the ones that got it going and convinced Bron to rap,\u201d Durant told Morman<\/a>.<\/p>\n Durant<\/a> detailed the recording process, which included frequent trips to Akron, Ohio, James\u2019 hometown.<\/p>\n \u201cI went to Akron, like, 2011 to work out with him for, like, four or five days,\u201d Durant said. \u201cAnd then he had a studio. Because Rich Paul\u2014me and Rich Paul really was the ones that got it going and convinced Bron to rap. \u201c\u2018Cause Rich Paul was trying to recruit me when he first started Klutch. I like Rich, so we hung out a lot. And every city we was going to, we was going to a studio, me and Rich.\u201d<\/p>\n Durant Says LeBron Enjoys Rapping Despite his initial hesitation, Durant added that James enjoyed it once they hopped in the vocal booth.<\/p>\n \u201cAny time somebody does something for the first few times, it\u2019s forced. A little forced. Once you get that flow\u2014 he had to figure it out. He loved rap.\u201d<\/p>\n In 2011, James and Durant recorded \u201cIt Ain\u2019t Easy\u201d during the 2011 NBA<\/a> lockout, according to\u00a0ESPN<\/a>. At the time, James played for the Miami Heat, and Durant was leading the Oklahoma City Thunder<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, the track never surfaced until 2018, when music producer Franky Wahoo released the song.<\/p>\n Upon release, Durant noted that the publicized version featured an alternate beat.<\/p>\n \u201cThey changed the beat, and it just made the song even more wack,\u201d Durant said.<\/p>\n Regarding their latest tracks, Durant isn\u2019t sure when (or if) they will be shared publicly.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s a good question,\u201d Durant said when asked where the additional rap songs are held. \u201cThey\u2019re in that studio in Akron. Somebody out there, an engineer or somebody, got them.\u201d<\/p>\n Oddly enough, Durant recalled that the first time James recorded a rap was in Philly, where he is now a superstar with the<\/a> Sixers<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe was in Philly in the studio. [James] would just meet me on the road. We would just hop in the studio because he knew I like to rap, and Rich loved to rap. So we were just rapping. I think we convinced Bron to rap that one day, and he got in there.\u201d<\/p>\n Durant has released several rap songs over the years.
