The death has taken place of Des Callaghan, 46 Ashlawn, Baile Raithin, Letterkenny F92 FXT8, and formerly of Ballina, Co. Mayo.<\/p>\n

Peacefully in Letterkenny University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.<\/p>\n

Retired member of An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na.<\/p>\n

Predeceased by his mother Annie (O\u2019Malley), father Vincey and infant sister Anne.<\/p>\n

Des will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Julia; children P\u00f3l (Fiona), Louise (John), Yvonne (Fearghall) and Angie (Corinne).<\/p>\n

Des will be sadly missed by his adoring grandchildren, Bl\u00e1thnaid, N\u00e9amh, Lorc\u00e1n, Dara-Tr\u00e1sa, \u00c9tain, Ava, Senan, Cillian, Clodagh agus Sadie; his sisters Mary (Dublin) and Joan (Kent); brothers Frank (Kent) and Vin (Ballina); his many nieces, nephews-in-law and a wide circle of family, friends, Garda comrades and neighbours.<\/p>\n

May Des rest in eternal peace.<\/p>\n

Des will be reposing at his home on Sunday 30th August and Monday 31st August from 12pm to 10pm.<\/p>\n

Funeral from there on Tuesday 1st September, going to the Church of the Irish Martyrs, Letterkenny for Requiem Mass at 11am followed by interment in Conwal Cemetery.<\/p>\n

Funeral Mass can be viewed on the Church of the Irish Martyrs YouTube channel.<\/p>\n

Family flowers only please.<\/p>\n

Donations in lieu, if desired, to Cro\u00ed Heart Society or the Irish Cancer Society care of any family member or Charlie Mc Clafferty funeral Director.<\/p>\n
