Liverpool<\/a> defender Virgil van Dijk has said that the club\u2019s owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), should not sell Cody Gakpo to Manchester City and has given his verdict on Bradley Barcola joining Andoni Iraola\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

Gakpo has decided to leave Liverpool for Man City<\/a> before the summer transfer window closes on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Man City<\/a> are willing to pay \u00a385million to Liverpool<\/a> for the Netherlands international winger.<\/p>\n

However, the Merseyside club will not sanction an exit for Gakpo<\/a> until and unless they find a suitable replacement.<\/p>\n

Liverpool centre-back Van Dijk has now publicly said that he wants FSG to keep Gakpo and believes that selling his Netherlands international team-mate would be a mistake.<\/p>\n

Virgil van Dijk welcomes Bradley Barcola to Liverpool<\/p>\n

Van Dijk has also given his verdict on Barcola<\/a>, who is set to join Liverpool from Paris Saint-Germain imminently.<\/p>\n

Liverpool will pay PSG an initial fee of \u00a3110m for the France international winger, with \u00a313m in add-ons.<\/p>\n

Van Dijk said: \u201cHe\u2019s a good player, that\u2019s the only thing I can say.<\/p>\n
