Perez Hilton<\/a>\u2018s care is moving into a new phase focused on his mental health after weeks of treatment for physical injuries, according to his family.<\/p>\n Tom, the husband of Perez\u2018s sister Barbara, shared the update during an August 23 recording of The Perez Hilton Podcast With Chris Booker<\/a>. He said Perez has been treated for cuts and several broken bones, which the family attributed to falls during the crisis.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, we are now just transitioning into the mental side of things,\u201d Tom said. \u201cAlthough, of course, while he\u2019s in the hospital, while he\u2019s being treated for his physical ailments, psychiatrists come in and check in and see how he\u2019s doing and make sure he\u2019s not looking to harm himself.\u201d<\/p>\n Tom said Perez is lucid, but he has avoided pressing him for details while he recovers. \u201cI don\u2019t know how much he does or doesn\u2019t recall,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cWe will get into that more once he\u2019s in that setting, where we\u2019re focusing on his mental health.\u201d<\/p>\n Perez was hospitalized after a concerning August 4 livestream<\/a> in which he appeared to harm himself. Police responded to his Miami home after receiving multiple calls, and the Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office later confirmed that he had been taken to a local hospital for medical care.<\/p>\n
