{"id":610703,"date":"2026-09-01T01:10:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-01T01:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/610703\/"},"modified":"2026-09-01T01:10:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-01T01:10:09","slug":"boy-16-charged-with-murder-and-attempted-murders-after-dungannon-attack-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/610703\/","title":{"rendered":"Boy (16) charged with murder and attempted murders after Dungannon attack \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Dungannon, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/tyrone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/tyrone\/\">Co Tyrone<\/a>, on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The body of the 61-year-old was discovered in a house in the Lisnahull Road area of Dungannon at about 11am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">An eight-year-old girl injured in the same incident is in a stable condition in hospital having been given \u201ca fighting chance of survival\u201d by police officers who arrived on the scene. She was earlier in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/crime-law\/2026\/08\/31\/girl-8-in-stable-condition-after-dungannon-attack-that-killed-her-father\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/crime-law\/2026\/08\/31\/girl-8-in-stable-condition-after-dungannon-attack-that-killed-her-father\/\">a critical condition<\/a> in hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A 48-year-old woman, the victim\u2019s wife, was also injured during the incident but has since been released from hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The boy was arrested over the weekend and, in a statement on Monday night, detectives from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/police-service-of-northern-ireland-psni\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/police-service-of-northern-ireland-psni\/\">Police Service of Northern Ireland\u2019s<\/a> major investigation team said he had been charged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The teenager is charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, and threats to kill.
